Northlake, TX Honors 9/11: Pecan Square's Memorial Stair Climb
Firefighters, police officers, and families from across the Alliance corridor gathered this morning to remember — and to give back.
Twenty-five years since September 11, 2001, the Alliance corridor came together to honor that day.
This morning, firefighters, police officers, and families from several Hillwood communities gathered at The Arena at Pecan Square in Northlake, Texas, for 25 Years of Remembrance — a Memorial Stair Climb honoring the lives lost on 9/11 and the heroes who answered the call that day.

What Happened
The event was held at The Arena at Pecan Square, 2751 N Market Square, Northlake, TX 76247, hosted in partnership by Hillwood Communities and FirstService Residential, with support from Denton County Emergency Services District 1 & 2 and the Northlake Police Department.
Rather than a stairwell climb up an actual building, participants took turns on stair-climbing machines — provided by event sponsors Life Fitness and Hammer Strength — each selecting a 15-minute activity window to climb as many steps as they could in honor of the first responders who climbed the stairs of the World Trade Center 25 years ago.
Residents from Harvest, Landmark, Pecan Square, and Treeline — all Hillwood communities along the I-35W Alliance corridor — turned out for the event. First responders participated free of charge; residents and the general public registered with a $25 donation.
100% of proceeds go to support Building Homes for Heroes, a national nonprofit that provides mortgage-free homes, home modifications, and support services to wounded veterans and first responders.

Events like this aren't just about the day itself — they're about what a community chooses to show up for. Firefighters and police officers who serve this corridor every day stood alongside residents who've never worn the uniform, all working toward the same fifteen minutes on a stair climber, all raising money for the same cause.
