🎉 NOW OPEN — Tom Thumb Grand Opening March 6, 2026

The wait is over. Tom Thumb officially opened its doors at Harvest Town Center on Friday, March 6, 2026 — and the community showed up in force to celebrate.

Here's how the day unfolded:

  • 🌭 8am–2pm — Oscar Mayer Wienermobile parked on-site
  • 🎈 2pm–6pm — Face painting & balloon artist
  • 🏈 6pm — Meet & greet with Cowboys legend Drew Pearson
  • 🎁 All day — Giveaways, food demos, and special brand mascot appearances

The first 300 customers received a free bag from one of Tom Thumb's exclusive brands. All day long, Tom Thumb sampled food including charcuterie boards, Dietz & Watson meats and cheeses, Alaskan Snow Crab, Blue Bell Ice Cream, and more — plus drinks including mimosa sampling, Bubbl'r, Electrolit, and Pepsi Zero.

📍 1046 Market Way, Argyle TX 76226 — northwest corner of I-35W & FM 407

If you live in Harvest or Pecan Square, the wait is over. Tom Thumb officially broke ground on January 28, 2025, on its new 63,000-square-foot grocery store at Harvest Town Center — and it opened March 6, 2026.

Located at 1046 Market Way in Argyle, TX 76226, right at the northwest corner of I-35W and FM 407, this isn't just another grocery store. It's the anchor tenant that Harvest and Pecan Square residents have been waiting for since they moved into the area.

What You're Getting

This won't be a scaled-down neighborhood market. Tom Thumb brings a full-service grocery experience with everything you'd expect from a flagship location:

Fresh Departments:

  • Full-service bakery
  • Deli counter
  • Meat & seafood department
  • Produce section
  • Floral department

Convenience Features:

  • In-store Starbucks coffee kiosk
  • Full-service pharmacy with drive-thru
  • DriveUp & Go™ grocery pickup (order online, pick up curbside)

The 63,000 square feet puts this store on par with Tom Thumb's other major North Texas locations — plenty of space for a full product selection without feeling overwhelming.

Construction Timeline

January 28, 2025: Groundbreaking ceremony held with Argyle officials, Hillwood executives, and Ridgemont Construction

January 2025 – March 2026: Construction underway (approximately 14 months total)

March 6, 2026: Grand opening

The $12.6 million project was built by Irving-based Ridgemont Construction Company in partnership with Hillwood, with financing from Frost Bank.

Harvest Town Center is Growing — Fast

Tom Thumb won't be alone at Harvest Town Center for long. The corridor has been adding up quickly:

Already open:

  • McDonald's
  • Chick-fil-A
  • Chase Bank

Coming in 2026:

This is just Phase 1. Additional restaurants and another bank are planned for Phase 2, with the full Harvest Town Center projected to span 138,000 square feet of retail space. There are currently spaces available for retail, medical office, and restaurant use — meaning more announcements are coming.

Harvest House: A New Kind of Neighbor

One of the most significant recent developments adjacent to Harvest Town Center is one many people haven't heard about yet. Hillwood broke ground on Harvest House, a 349-unit luxury multifamily community at the northeast corner of I-35W and FM 407 — directly across from Tom Thumb.

Harvest House features 259 upscale apartments and 90 townhomes with private yards, with amenities including a resort-style pool, 24-hour fitness center, co-working spaces with private offices, dog park, EV charging stations, and a clubhouse with a coffee bar. First units are expected to be available in early 2026, with full project completion by late 2026.

This matters for two reasons. First, it adds hundreds more households to the immediate trade area — within walking distance of Tom Thumb. Second, it marks the first luxury multifamily development within Argyle ISD, which is ranked in the top 1% of districts in the state of Texas. The combination of walkable retail, a full-service grocery store, and top-rated schools in a multifamily setting is a new proposition for this part of North Texas.

Why Argyle? Why Now?

The numbers tell the story. Hillwood's two master-planned communities in the immediate area — Harvest in Argyle (4,000 homes) and Pecan Square in Northlake (3,100 homes) — represent over 7,000 households that needed convenient grocery access.

"The profusion of new homes is one factor that attracted Tom Thumb to the area," said Christy Lara, Director of Communications and Public Relations for Albertsons (Tom Thumb's parent company).

And it's worth noting what this area beat out. Argyle was actively courting an H-E-B along Robson Ranch Road — it ultimately went to Denton. Meanwhile, Flower Mound landed a Costco and approved plans for an H-E-B at Furst Ranch. The grocery wars in southern Denton County are real — and Tom Thumb got to Harvest first.

It's not just about existing residents. The I-35W corridor through southern Denton County is experiencing unprecedented growth:

  • Hillwood's Landmark development (just south of Harvest) will bring 6,000 homes and 3,000 multifamily units to Denton
  • The Heritage Tract across from Landmark is planning additional retail and a Baylor Scott & White medical facility
  • The Heath Tract at I-35W and FM 407 is being developed for mixed-use
  • The Monarch development will add 278 townhomes and 472,000 square feet of retail

Tom Thumb has positioned itself at the center of what is becoming one of the most significant retail corridors in North Texas.

The Alliance Connection

Harvest Town Center isn't just an Argyle story — it's an Alliance corridor story.

Guy Grivas, Vice President of Retail at Hillwood, noted: "We are excited to collaborate with Tom Thumb on their expansion within AllianceTexas. This highly anticipated new location will anchor Harvest Town Center, providing convenient access to a full-service grocer for the residents of Hillwood Communities' award-winning developments."

The Harvest and Pecan Square communities are part of Hillwood's broader AllianceTexas vision — creating integrated live-work-play environments that attract families and businesses to the region. The Tom Thumb opening is proof that major retailers see the long-term potential here.

What This Means for You

If you live in Harvest or Pecan Square: No more driving to Denton, Flower Mound, or Trophy Club for groceries. That chapter is over.

If you're considering moving to the area: The arrival of a full-service grocery store, Chuy's, luxury multifamily, and more at Harvest Town Center eliminates one of the biggest concerns families have about moving to newly developed areas — access to everyday amenities. The infrastructure is here.

If you're watching the Alliance corridor: Tom Thumb's $12.6 million investment, Harvest House, Chuy's, and 16 additional retail spaces still available for lease are a collective vote of confidence in this region's growth trajectory. When major grocers, restaurants, and multifamily developers all commit at once, the momentum is real.

What to Watch For Next

With Tom Thumb now open and Chuy's under construction, attention turns to what fills the remaining space at Harvest Town Center. Commercial listings show space designated for retail, medical office, and restaurant use — meaning this corridor is not done growing.
